Two Brooklyn based designers living in Copenhagen for the summer

My entry into the world of stop-motion videography. A collaboration with Sally from the CIID summer school program.

I’m really into the signage (and branding) of the Danish Film Institue or Cinemateket here in Copenhagen. Looks like they had some fun with this.

Some shots of the stairwell in our apartment building.

The owners of the home that we’re staying in have a framed map of the history of Europe – pretty sick!

These mint packages are from a store called Tiger (the danish equivalent of a dollar store in the states). However this is no ordinary cheap trinket shop. They have coffee mugs, utensils, and other household items way better than some of the stuff in my household. In any case I found these amusing.

This past weekend we checked out the Arken museum in Ishoj, Denmark. About an hour from Copenhagen. The highlight (and our reason for going) was the Olafur Eliasson DIN BLINDE PASSAGER exhibit. It’s a long tunnel constructed of plywood. Once you enter, you become engulfed by a thick fog that only allows visibility only a couple feet in front of you. Was pretty ill, really plays with your senses and literally immerses you in the installation.

The skull is a Damian Hurst piece made of actual diamond dust.

More from my visit to darkmatters

I visited with the guys at darkmatters yesterday. They make some amazing light projections for concerts and other events. Rune and Lasse were kind enough to take time out of their busy schedule to share their process (at one point they put my ass to work and had me help move some large wood panels for a current project ;). Here are some shots of the space and the friendly, talented group of folks that work in it.

Grundtvig’s Church. Designed by Danish architect PV Jensen Klint, finished by his son Kaare Klint.

The Royal Danish Playhouse (one of my favorite buildings in Copenhagen so far)
